Incredible Inlay with Concord & 9th!
/In today’s livestream, I shared an inlay shaker card creation using the Hearts & Hugs release from Concord & 9th! Watch the video below by clicking ‘watch on YouTube’ so that you can give the video a thumbs-up, leave a comment and share on your social media!
In today’s video, I finished off a full-panel shaker card with an inlay design on acetate! I love this technique, but I also wanted to show you how you can create an inlay without a shaker, so I created a quick card after the live, too. Take a look at what I created:
The Mix & Match Hearts Bundle is the perfect set to begin with if you have never tried an inlay technique before. A simple shape makes it easy to create multiple card panels at once! I started off with the shaker card, and to achieve this, I used a sheet of acetate to back my inlay panel.
Once I had all 5 colors stamped and cut and adhered the inlay outline to the acetate, it was easy to adhere some of the hearts to the openings. I backed this onto a card front using 3mm foam adhesive and added sequins below before adhering. The ‘hello friend’ sentiment was cut twice using the Rosy Lane dies—once with cardstock and once with white glitter paper to add a bit of sparkle. I love how this sentiment finished off the card!
Since I had so many different heart panels and die cuts still to create with, I decided to create a quick layered card using the traditional inlay method. Instead of a shaker, I adhered my inlay background a pice of cardstock, but this time, I cut off one column and row of hearts to make the panel smaller. This allowed me to layer the panel with glitter cardstock and tie it with baker’s twine before adhering it to the card front using foam adhesive. My ‘hello’ sentiment was again cut with the Rosy Lane dies. I just love the touch of glitter around the edge, and the way that the beautiful colors pop on the card front!
What a fun crafty session! I love inlay dies, and I hope today’s livestream will inspire you to try out this technique, too!
