Pretty Pink Posh Birthday Instagram Hop!
/Hello, and happy Monday! I’m taking part in a birthday celebration Instagram hop for Pretty Pink Posh today—it’s their 11th birthday! You can head over to my Instagram post now to leave a comment there to enter to win a gift card giveaway, and find all of the details about that below!
Today I’m sharing two cards—both in a warm and cool colorway that feature the Birthday Holder Additions dies! This die set of small & sweet birthday icons is perfect for pairing with the Dog Holder dies, but on their own, too! Take a look!
To create these cards, I started by selecting my colorways: Honeysuckle, Ballet Slipper, Grapefruit and Honeycomb for the warm hues, and Aqua Sky, Peacock and Honeycomb for the cool hues. I started die cutting the party hat, present and cupcake die cuts from these color combinations.
Once I had those die cuts assembled in the colors that I liked, I added small highlights with a glue pen and fine glitter. You can never have too much birthday sparkle on your cards!
Next, I arranged my birthday icon die cuts how I envisioned them to be placed on an A2 card front, placed on a Grip Mat. I laid the Cascading Stars stencil over the top and masked off the stars that were close to or touching the icons—I wanted to have white space around these die cuts so that they stood out more on the background. Once these stars were masked, I removed the die cuts underneath, replaced the stencil on top, and started blending using Honeycomb in the center of both cards, then blending out to Honeysuckle on the warm card, and Aqua Sky on the cool card. The overlap of colors gave me a lovely peach and a teal/green color.
To create my sentiment, I stamped two different sentiments from the Sentiment Strips: Birthday Stamp Set and cut them out using the Sentiment Strips dies. To give each sentiment dimension, I layered three layers of the strips before adding them to my stenciled card fronts. Not only did this sentiment look great, but it also provided a ‘shelf’ of sorts for my birthday icons to sit on!
To finish off these cards, I simply trimmed down my stenciled starry card panels by 1/8” on all sides, then layered them on top of a Honeysuckle and Aqua Sky panel before adhering to my folded card. I then adhered the party hat, present and cupcake die cuts on both cards with 1 millimeter foam adhesive.
I love the simplicity of these cards, but they would still ‘wow’ any birthday boy or girl who receives them!
