Jot Magazine Issue 14: Once Upon a Time

Jot Magazine issue 14 has been out for a few weeks now, and if you haven't checked it out yet, I'd love to share a layout I created for the Storytelling section. This month's theme was "once upon a time," which immediately made me think of our trip to Disneyland at the end of last year, so I decided to create another 8-1/2" x 11" layout to add to my Disneyland album.

Supplies | Cardstock: Bazzill Basics. Patterned paper: Simple Stories. Journaling tags: Project Life, Elle's Studio. Stickers: Simple Stories, Crate Paper, Studio Calico. Stamps: In a Creative Bubble, Studio Calico. Wood veneer: American Crafts.

When we first arrived at the park, the first ride we came to with a short line was the Flying Dumbo ride. Walking up to it, Lizzy was just amazed. I was so happy that I had my camera ready to capture the joy and excitement in her face.

I loved the floral & sequin paper from Simple Stories that I chose for my background, but when I cut it to 8-1/2" x 11", the gold "I am" words were still visible in the right corner. So I simply covered that area with sequins and flowers cut from another corner of the paper. I continued my red, yellow, turquoise, white and black color scheme from the rest of my Disney layouts throughout the page, layering tags, washi, and stickers to create a whimsical, girly layout.

Title work is always my favorite part of a layout, and I had fun creating this one with Crate Paper Thickers, an older alphabet stamp from Studio Calico, and epoxy gold alphas from Studio Calico.

I'm loving having this memory documented in my Disneyland album! What will you create with the theme of "once upon a time?"

Elle's Studio May Exclusive Kit Reveal!

It's a new month, which means a new exclusive kit is available today in the Elle's Studio shop! Let's take a look at the beautiful, new kit!

I am loving the warm, springy colors this month! In addition to the kit, there are some amazing add-ons, including the May exclusive stamp set, Sunshine acrylic, The Good Life acrylic, Ice Cream Cone wood veneers, Sunglasses acrylic, and Marie alphabet stamp- my personal favorite item this month!

Plus, you definitely want to add the printables and cut files to your digital library!

On my first project, I had to take advantage of all of the cute ice cream cones in the kit and add-ons this month, so I scrapped a favorite photo of my daughter and her bestie at Baskin Robbins. The fun polka dot paper from the Little Moments 12" x 12" paper collection set the colorful tone for this layered layout.

The Ice Cream Cone wood veneers are the cutest embellishments, and so easy to customize to make them fit your project. I embossed the top of this one, but you can also stamp and paint to get the perfect color for your cone.

For my second project, I created another 8-1/2" x 11" layout to go into my Disneyland album.

The awesome font in the Marie alphabet stamp is the perfect playful typeface to use in my Disney layouts. I also love that the colors in the kit pair so well with the Little Moments collection, already in my stash, to create perfect Disney layouts!

Today and tomorrow only (the 10th & 11th), you can get free shipping for U.S. orders over $50 and international orders over $75 when you use coupon codes SPRINGUSA or SPRINGINT, so take advantage of free shipping and stock up! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the new kit!

Elle's Studio Travelogue: Go See Do Disney

I am having so much fun with the Elle's Studio mid-release, Travelogue, that I created another layout using the fun, versatile supplies! While creating this layout, I decided that it was the perfect way to start an entire 8-1/2" x 11" album dedicated to our Disneyland trip last December. The colors I used- teal, red, yellow, black and white will be my color scheme throughout the album.

To begin the layout, I grabbed a few patterned papers from the Little Moments collection. The large teal and white polka-dot came from the Little Moments 12" x 12" paper collection pack, and reminded me of Minnie Mouse. To add some contrast, I put just a corner of the black and white stripe from the Little Moments 6" x 6" paper stack at the top left, then tucked underneath it, added the yellow pattern from the same paper stack at an angle, to keep the layout fun and relaxed. On top of those two layers, I added the "adventure" label from the Travelogue labels.

I used the incredibly useful Travelogue journaling tags in a couple of different ways- as a journaling tag which I typed my journaling on, as embellishment with the "enjoying every moment" tag, punched out onto a cardstock die-cut Mickey silhouette with the "happiness found" tag, and then as a photo mat with the white and yellow diagonal striped 4" x 6" tag. These tags formed the foundation for my layout design, and since they were so bright and bold, I layered them all onto a piece of white cardstock.

My title began with the "Go See Do" acrylic, which I loved in white so that it didn't distract from my photo above. To offset the black in the upper left hand corner, I added "Disney" in black alpha stickers below.

I couldn't finish my layout without using the Travelogue stamp, my favorite item from this release! I stamped "love this place" in black under "Disney," then the "these pages" stamp in the upper right corner, above the red tag. To start adding small embellishments on the page, I stamped the tiny star from the stamp set around the page in a visual triangle, then added a few enamel dots in yellow and red in those same areas.

I also included a couple of items on the layout releasing on the 10th with the April exclusive kit release- so be sure to check out the Elle's Studio shop on Sunday! Don't forget to add your Travelogue supplies to the cart- since the supplies are exclusive, once they're gone, they're gone for good!
