Stitched Bright Holiday Cards

Hello, and welcome to a new week of creative possibilities!

Once I was finished with my 12 Days of Stitchmas cards, I was itching to stitch again, so I grabbed the Stitched Bright collection from Spellbinders, and paired it with the September holiday release from Concord & 9th! A match made in heaven! Take a look:

This trio of cards was created with three different stitching die sets from the Stitched Bright collection, and I used sentiment and icon dies from Concord & 9th to finish off my cards. Let’s go through each one!

This first card may be my favorite, as I am a sucker for Christmas lights—especially the vintage old ones that my grandmother used to use on her tree like these. The lights, cut from the Stitched String Lights Etched Dies are easy to stitch with a sunburst pattern, and I used a tone-on-tone look in bright red and a peachy pink. I cut the light tops from gold metallic cardstock and the string from Rainforest. I wanted my card background to have a ' Christmas tree effect, so I grabbed the Berries & Boughs Embossing Folder and embossed Evergreen cardstock. This gave the lights the perfect ‘pop’ against that background, and I adhered them with 1mm foam adhesive. The ‘Deck the Halls’ sentiment, from the Jolly Holiday Greetings dies, was cut from Grapefruit cardstock and gold metallic cardstock and layered up on top of the lights. I just love the mix of colors and textures on this one.

This stitched tree from the Stitched Holiday Tree Etched Dies, creates the perfect icon for your card, and is super easy to stitch if you are new to stitching on paper! I alternated my thread colors on three different tree layers and used a dark green border at the base of each tree. to add contrast. This tree needed a gorgeous background on the card that didn’t distract, so I embossed a white cardstock panel using the Flurry of Snowflakes 3D Embossing Folder. It added a gorgeous texture behind the tree! For my sentiment, I again grabbed a greeting from Concord & 9th, the Classic Holiday Greetings Dies, and cut the greeting from Grapefruit and gold metallic cardstock. This card is soft and pretty—perfect for the sentiment!

My final card is the most playful of the three! This time, I started by stitching my background using the Stitched Starfilled Background Etched Dies. This background gave the card a retro feel, and I went with it to add a fun image to the center of the card using the Handmade Holiday and Tree Topper dies from Concord & 9th. These fun die sets include hands and multiple Christmas icons that the hands can hold, and I went with retro ornaments in the same colors that I used for the card background. I kept the same sentiment, ‘Deck the Halls’ from the Jolly Holiday Greetings dies, that I used on my first card. It fit perfectly with the icons on the front and sat perfectly at the base of the oval frame from the Nutcracker dies.

I hope you love these cards as much as I do! If you are finished with your 12 Days of Stitchmas advent and want to find your next stitching project, check out this gorgeous stitching collection, Stitched Bright!
